When my Father came to visit Me, at Ramstein AFB, Germany in 1976, he saw a billboard, depicted above.
He decided that he had to have the Z Scale engine on the sign, and a set of cars and track to go with it.
It was never clear if he wanted the train just to have the train, or to empress the buxom lady.
Until the day he died, 25 years later, I and the rest of the family were not allowed to touch the train set.
Soon after his demise my mother gave me the the set. I attempted to run the engine for a Christmas train, and found the engine
froze up, with hardened oil syndrome. I attempted to repair it and could not get the gears to line up. I then sent it off to a couple in Florida,
who eventually sent it back working. In the mean time, I needed a working engine for the Christmas train, and bought one and some cars,
and more Z Scale, and more ……
Steve’s Z Layouts
In response to a half page layout in a popular Z Scale magazine, I resolved to create a full page layout. This is the result.
